We all know the benefits of exercise and fitness and the important role they play in a healthy aging process. The Idaho Senior Games provide seniors in Idaho a marvelous opportunity to engage either competitively or non-competitively in activities of their choice while having fun and staying healthy. The Games have expanded their venues this year throughout Idaho to be even more accessible for participants. As Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, I commend the Idaho Senior Games and thank all of the volunteers and sponsors that make these events possible.

The Idaho Senior Games make a difference. The Games provide the motivation and encouragement for seniors to take responsibility for their own bodies and set examples for all of Idaho’s citizens. It is the preventative maintenance prescription that offers the best prospect for a healthier national senior community.

Again, congratulations and thank you Idaho Senior Games for the important role you play in the lives of the seniors of Idaho.

I would like to invite all Idahoans, age 50 and older, to participate in the Idaho Senior Games to be held in Boise, Pocatello, and Lewiston this summer. This event offers competitive and noncompetitive physical fitness activities and education that results in older Idahoans doing something to better their health.

As a senior games participant, you will be doing your part to improving the overall health of our senior community. This preventative approach will contribute to reducing future health care costs and a better quality of life for our rapidly growing older population.
